Frequently Asked Questions
I’m going through a big transition and my brain feels like scrambled eggs. Can I handle this process?
We hear this from many clients we work with, and we want you to know—you’re not alone. We specialize in working with women and families during life’s most overwhelming transitions. We’ll move at your pace, explain everything as many times as you need, and never make you feel rushed or confused. Many clients tell us that just our first conversation brings unexpected relief. There’s no judgment here, only understanding and patient support.
How are you different from my current advisor at Wells Fargo/Merrill Lynch/Edward Jones?
The biggest difference? You’ll have our personal cell phone numbers and we’ll actually answer when you call. We make you feel like our only client because we genuinely care about your entire life—not just your portfolio. We remember your grandchildren’s names, celebrate their graduations, and understand that your church’s building fund matters to you. You’re family to us, not account #47,892.
Do I have to live in Florida to work with you?
While we’re based in Port Charlotte, Florida, we work with clients throughout Florida and those who split time between Florida and northern states. Many of our clients are “snowbirds” who spend winters here and summers up north. Today’s technology makes it easy to stay connected wherever you are—whether you’re at your Florida home or visiting family in Connecticut.
Do you charge for an initial consultation?
Your first meeting with us is always complimentary. We believe that client-advisor relationships should start with establishing trust through open communication. We want to know your story – where you came from, how you got to where you are now, and where you would like to go from here. This initial conversation allows everyone to determine if we are a mutual fit for a dedicated planning partnership.
What if I don’t meet your $1M minimum in assets?
We understand that major life transitions can affect your financial situation in unexpected ways. While we typically work with clients who have $1M or more in investable assets, we handle every situation on a case-by-case basis. We also work with multi-generational families and recognize that each member is at a different stage of life. Let’s talk about your specific situation.
Is the Transition Clarity Blueprint really free? What’s the catch?
Yes, our 3-step Transition Clarity Blueprint process is completely free with no obligation to become a client. There’s no catch—we believe in education first and building trust before any financial relationship begins. This process helps both of us determine if we’re the right fit for a long-term partnership. Many people find tremendous value just in gaining clarity about their situation, even if they choose not to work with us.
I’ve never handled finances before—my spouse did everything. Can you help someone starting from zero?
Absolutely. Many of our clients come to us in exactly this situation. We start with the basics and explain everything in plain English, no judgment whatsoever. We’ll help you understand what you have, what decisions need to be made, and in what order. Think of us as your patient teachers who will explain things as many times as needed until you feel confident. You don’t need to know anything about finances to start—you just need to be willing to learn.
What if I need help outside of business hours?
Life doesn’t follow business hours, and neither do we when you truly need us. Our clients have our personal cell phone numbers, and we’re available when real concerns arise. While we do value our family time, we understand that financial worries don’t wait for Monday morning. We’ve taken calls during family emergencies, answered weekend questions about market events, and been there when clients just needed reassurance.
I’m worried about making big financial mistakes. How do you help prevent those?
This is one of the biggest fears we hear, and it’s completely valid. We help prevent costly mistakes through our comprehensive approach—we look at your entire financial picture, not just investments. We coordinate tax strategies with investment decisions, review beneficiaries, analyze insurance gaps, and catch issues like missed RMDs or improper account titling. Most importantly, we educate you about the “why” behind every recommendation so you understand what we’re doing to help you avoid preventable mistakes.
How do your values influence your financial advice?
Our faith informs our commitment to treating every client with integrity, compassion, and genuine care—like family. While we welcome clients of all backgrounds, many find comfort in working with an advisor who shares their values and can incorporate their faith priorities into their financial planning, whether that’s charitable giving, church support, or family stewardship.
What does it cost to work with you?
We believe in complete transparency about fees—no hidden costs or surprise charges. Our fee structure is straightforward and based on the assets we manage for you. We’ll discuss our fees in detail during your Blueprint presentation so you have all the information needed to make an informed decision. There’s never any pressure, and we want you to feel completely comfortable with the value we provide before moving forward.
What is a fiduciary and why does it matter?
As a fiduciary, we’re legally required to put your interests ahead of our own—always. This means we can’t recommend investments that pay us higher commissions or steer you toward products that benefit us more than you. Think of it this way: we’re required by law to give you the same advice we’d give our own mothers. Becky’s Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) designation represents additional training and commitment to this highest standard of care.
Why should I work with a Certified Financial Planner™?
The CFP® designation matters because it represents the gold standard in financial planning education and ethics. It requires years of study, a comprehensive exam, ongoing education, and adherence to strict ethical standards. When you work with a CFP® professional, you know you’re getting advice from someone who has proven expertise in all aspects of financial planning—not just investments, but taxes, insurance, estate planning, and how they all work together.
